Dr. Georgi Mishev graduated in 2000 from the language high school "B. Brecht" - town of Pazardzhik with German and English. In 2006, he obtained a bachelor's degree in German and Russian at Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski". In 2003, as a scholarship holder in Dresden, Germany, he studied "Applied Linguistics" and "Ancient Spells" (under Prof. Johann Tischler). In 2011, he acquired a master's degree in Protection of Cultural and Historical Heritage in the Republic of Bulgaria at UniBIT - Sofia. In 2014, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Bulgarian traditional culture as an information resource for magic in ancient South-Eastern Europe" with supervisor Prof. Valeria Fol.
His professional research interests include intangible cultural and historical heritage; traditional rites - ideas and beliefs; the ancient cultures of the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Asia Minor.
He is a member of the International Society for Ethnology and Folklore. He is the author of a number of publications on the subject in Bulgarian and in foreign languages and has participated in a number of national and international conferences.
